A classic “competition-style” set of bagpipe tunes performed on the fiddle. John MacColl (1860-1943) composed at least seven of what today are considered to be the finest 2/4 marches ever written and was renowned not only as a piper but as a fiddler, Highland dancer and athlete. Maj. David Manson was an officer in the Canadian Army who, on leaving the armed services, set up as a silversmith in Glasgow.
